But due to his small size, it was unlikely he would be more than a nice child’s riding pony.
Make Use of the Electronic Pet Training Collar For Dogsmarlene deidre

Using a pet training collar, particularly the electronic kind for your pet dog, is considerably the most humane and the fastest manner to training dogs. If you are among the many pet lovers who want to keep their pets secured and safe, well then, an electronic pet training collar is your answer. Professional pet trainers specifically those who tackles on working dogs, generally employ electronic pet training collar in their training courses. On the other hand, those with no experience or those who have no idea what an electronic collar is perhaps may think of dog cruelty. However, it is understandable to think so, and if you have not seen anything like it being used properly, you cannot fully imagine how a dog can learn in a little time.

Firstly, you need to comprehend that an electronic pet training collar is an integral part of a valid training program. This equipment is not solely used just for the sake of correcting dogs’ misbehaviors and bad habits. An experienced trainer will use this kind of pet training collar regardless of how tame a dog is. Meanwhile, most trainers labeled dogs as hard or soft. And more often than not, trainers at times are reluctant to use the electronic type of pet training collar for the “softer” canines.

Stimulation levels and proper correction will yield to a suitable training communication that will surely be beneficial to any dog. And the electronic pet training collar will do just that. It will provide the necessary stimulation and correction that no other training equipment can accomplish. This pet training collar will provide positive punishment and enforcement. A dog that is afraid to attack snakes or has a problem in attacking other forms of animals will eventually learn that he can die or get hurt as the outcome of his cowardice. Moreover, it will be much better to put on an electronic pet training collar on the dog, so the next time he worries about a snake, he will be jolted off his spot. And then he will learn that attacking snakes can result to a bad experience. But best of all, he will not associate the experience to the handler or trainer. Instead, he will view the snake as the reason for his discomfort.

So, come next time when you see a rattlesnake passing nearby, no amount of calling or yelling for your dog is necessary. In addition, whether you are present or not, the fact remains that your pet dog does not want anything to do with a snake, or any other snakes. This is called avoidance training, as it puts an end to any unfavorable behavior for good. And as the end result, pet training collar does save another dog’s life.

Introducing a new horse to a herd

Due to a recent incident on a local yard I felt the need to write this guide.

When introducing a new horse to an existing herd it is very important to understand the problems that can occur. Do Not just put the new horse into the pasture with the resident horses and hope for the best – because the Worst is just waiting to happen. Accidents are caused, they don’t just happen!Any new horse should be put into an adjacent paddock to the main herd or group for two or three days to allow them to smell each other and gradually socialize over the fence, allowing a safe barrier between them should they wish to move away, reducing direct contact and removing direct conflict from the equation. If an adjacent paddock is not available then a section of the main field should be sectioned off using temporary fencing such as ‘electric tape’ fencing. When introducing a new horse to an established herd or group of other horses, they will sort themselves out into a ‘pecking order’. The resident horses will approach and sniff the new horse and challenges will be made one way or another! Initially the new horse will react in one of two ways:Flight If flight is the scenario, then the new horse will run, and be followed/chased by the other horses, if and when it is cornered, it may well jump out of the field or be hurt or hurt the other horse/s. OrIf the new horse moves off to a respectful distance and start grazing, should this happen and the other horses are not persistent in there chasing or threatening of the new horse, then things bode well for the stability of the introduction for the new horse and the herd in general. FightIf fight is the scenario, then the confrontation of the existing horse or horses will result in striking out with the front hooves, boxing, rearing and biting. The fighting can escalate to spinning their hindquarters around and kicking with the rear hooves. This fighting can result in serious injury to one or several of the horses. These situations must be controlled! How? You may well ask!One method as previously stated is to start by putting the new horse into an adjacent paddock to the main herd or group for two or three days to allow them to smell each other and gradually socialize over the fence, allowing a safe barrier between them should they wish to move away, reducing direct contact and removing direct conflict from the equation. If an adjacent paddock is not available then a section of the main field should be sectioned off using temporary fencing such as ‘electric tape’ fencing.Be careful to choose the initial grouping with horses that are passive and not dominant. The pairing and friendships formed during this period of introductions will give the horses a feeling of safety and help them to fit in with the rest of the herd as they are introduced. Dominant horses should be led into the field in a head collar and walked round before being let loose with the rest of the herd.Care and time should be taken to supervise the introductions in the field. Be sure that the horses have been fed prior to going into the field. Observe and the behavior for an hour or two and be ready to extract any horse that is being bullied or terrorized over and above acceptable levels of setting up the ‘pecking order’, or extract the offending horse.

After you have introduced a new horse to your herd, look out for bites, bruises, lameness, dull coats, snotty noses or any indications of illness as the herd sets up the new ‘pecking order’. Horses will naturally settle into the new order and you should see the chaos turn to order over a few days. But be aware of the rare occasion that you have a rogue that has a vicious streak. This is very, very uncommon but must be remedied extremely quickly to avoid serious injury and wellbeing of the herd.Be Safe

Training a horse is an art, a beautiful one. But it’s often done successfully with love, patience and being able to understand horses as they really are. How to train a horse to do tricks, even the really basic ones, can be achieved if you have the consistency, flexibility and determination.

The first basic trick is to jump. Jumping can be done by a horse whether you ride on him or not. To do this, you must first prepare a pole. It need not be the one for competition, even a long slim log on two stands will do. It should be low as you are training the horse. Afterwards you command the horse to run slowly towards the direction of the log. Run with him and jump over the log. At first he might stop but if you do it repeatedly and give the cue jump when you jump, eventually the horse will follow as his instincts and observations will tell him he has to go over the obstacle. Give him a treat every time he succeeds.

Now how to train a horse to do tricks such as kiss is quite simple. Just let him smell a treat and draw it away from him and towards you. When he tries to reach for it with his mouth give him the cue and kiss him, then feed him the treat. Again, do it repeatedly until he gets used to it. Remember to kiss him with love.

And how to train a horse to do tricks that are quite as complex as the dance, will take some time, with some, even years to fulfill. You have to combine training a horse to jump on his right and left legs alternately, as if a marching dance and also shaking its hips. Do this as like training with the other tricks and use treats and a whip for control. Train with the hips first then with the legs

Obedience Training is a form of training that can range from teaching a dog a few basic commands to more advanced tricks, like the ones seen at high level dog competitions.

A highly obedient dog is one that can perform any given number of tricks consistently. A dog that has gone through obedience training may listen, but they may not be obedient. This article will share some tips on how to take your dog training to another level.

One needs to understand that training a dog for obedience can be a lengthy process. You cannot expect to train a dog for a few hours and have an obedient dog. This is an ongoing process that will take a few months to a few years. There are ways to reduce this time, but there must be a lot of focused effort.

Know what your goal is

Someone’s definition of an obedient dog may be different from one person to the next. Some people will be happy to have a dog come to them when the situation calls for it, like when the dog is about to run into a street. This same person may not have the same expectation when they are in the comfort of their home and they call their dog to play with them. If the dog doesn’t come, it’s not a problem because there is no immediate danger.

For others, they may expect the dog to listen and properly react to a command every time. If you don’t properly define your training goals, you may set both you and your dog up for failure.

Getting the right training tools

To properly train the dog for obedience training, the proper tools must be used. There are a variety of tools one can use when training the dog.

The Belmont Stakes is often called “the test of the champion” because of its challenging nature – it requires horses three years of age and younger to push themselves to the limit to finish this strenuous race – the third and final of the Triple Crown series. There are a lot of horses that run, but very few that have the heart of a champion.

A “Never-Say-Die” AttitudeIt has been said that nothing can compare to the inspiration and beauty of a horse running with the wind. For the people who train horses to compete at Belmont, seeing the heart and soul that their horses display is enough to bring tears to their eyes when the horses are racing. Trainers provide love, attention and care to their horses while getting them ready to race – and the ones who win repay them with their complete unwillingness to lose.

Winners of the Belmont StakesBelmont’s first race was in 1867, and since then, hundreds of horses have been able to call themselves champions of this annual race. Of those champions, eleven have been able to win the Triple Crown: Sir Barton in 1919, Gallant Fox in 1930, Omaha in 1935, War Admiral in 1937, Whirlaway in 1941, Count Fleet in 1943, Citation in 1948, Secretariat in 1973, Seattle Slew in 1977 and Affirmed in 1978.The New York Racing Association has even published a media guide in which it includes characteristics of Belmont Stakes winners, including their post positions, colors and first letters of their names. “1” has been the luckiest post position since 1905. “C” has been “the most popular first initial for winning Belmont runners,” and “bay” is the most popular color of Belmont winners.

Whatever the position, color or name of the horse – all horses trained for this event deserve great admiration and respect. It is because of them that this race has been so successful for over a century.

Everyone considers the dog to be man’s best friend, but what about the horse? Horses have been our trusted companions throughout the ages as the Greeks relied upon their steeds to spirit them bravely into and safely out of battle. They famously gained access to the city of Troy with a Trojan Horse. (The war didn’t end with a Trojan Dog!)

Famous Horses Tricks and Characters

Studies by Dr Evelyn Hanggi, equine intelligence researcher, show that horses are far more intelligent than we may first think – consider some of the tricks these celebrity horses have had to master.

* Mr Ed, the talking horse, made history in the 1960s television sitcom for five years straight. Wilbur, his TV owner, spent more time in the barn with Ed than with his young and attractive wife. Contrary to popular belief, Mr. Ed wasn’t made to talk by lining his mouth with peanut butter. Instead, his trainer used nylon string tied to the horse’s halter to get Mr Ed to move his mouth. Eventually, Mr Ed learned to move his lips on cue – now that’s a smart horse!

* Consider Trigger, the Golden Palomino who co-starred with Roy Rogers in films and television. Trigger was billed as the most intelligent celebrity horse and had a successful acting career from 1938 to 1957. He could walk 50 feet on his hind legs and mastered 150 on-film trick cues; what a way to work the cameras.

*Meanwhile, horse films have found a place in our hearts with enamouring flicks like The Horse Whisperer and Seabiscuit. Horses inspire a sense of majesty and triumph that makes our bond with these animals truly unique – it’s why generation after generation of youngsters continue to fall in love with these brilliant creatures.

If you’re inspired to own your own horse, consider horse classifieds to find great horses for sale. There’s no need to be a trained equestrian; you and your mount can learn together. Imagine going for a long ride through the beautiful country on a gorgeous day. Meander along a shaded path or go for a brisk trot on the open road. And who knows – maybe you’ll be training up your animal to be the next Mr Ed.

About the Author

Next time you’re looking for horses for sale, consider the breeding of the animal. A good pedigree increases the likelihood that the horse could be a champion – you might even look at getting into the breeding game for yourself. Find out more from Horsezone.com.au
